Les Jardins des Arts is situated in the sleepy hamlet of Hanc, Poitou Charentes in South West France, noted for its Mediterranean quota of sunshine. The region is famous for its beautiful, golden sunflower fields - have you ever noticed how their heads follow the sun across the sky? Close to Bordeaux and Cognac and the Marais Poitevin (the "Green Venice" of the Charente), a myriad of canals running through fens and meadows and surrounded by Poplar trees. Farmers in this area still use barges to access their fields and to move livestock and produce. Hire a boat or a cycle and travel down the gentle canals and tracks between the lovely villages scattered along its banks.
The area is also famous for its many 11c chapels and historical buildings including Chateau de Javarzay set in stunning parkland and situated in the nearby town of Chef-Boutonne.  Chateau Javarzay is host to a wide variety of art exhibitions throughout the summer months.
